What is Gypsum

gypsumGypsum is a soft naturally occurring mineral that has become one of the most widely used minerals in the world. Known to chemists as calcium sulphate di-hydrate (CaSO4 – 2H20) gypsum is primarily used in the building industry in the manufacture of plasterboard, and in agriculture and horticulture as a 'clean green' soil conditioner and fertiliser.

What is ecoGypsum?

In Australia plasterboard is made up of the finest A grade natural gypsum consisting of 95% gypsum and 5% paper and is 100% recyclable. ecoGypsum recycles plasterboard transforming it back into pure refined virgin gypsum for the agricultural market and for remanufacture of plasterboard. The waste plasterboard is shredded and screened by state of the art equipment to produce a consistent and high quality product.

ecoGypsum is 95% calcium sulphate performing all three levels of soil treatment as an amendment, conditioner and fertiliser. The separated paper is shredded and recycled thru our compost operation, meaning 100% of waste is diverted from landfill.
